Long Run Today

30 11 2008

We have our long run today, and I’m so fortunate to have with me my bosom buddies. We’re 7 in the group (Ferdie Valdez, Henry de Castro, Johnny Lizarito. Ramon Cena, Rod Cameros, Allan Limpiahoy and myself) although I’m expecting it to be more than 10. We started at exactly 5am and we finished at 7:10am. Although it’s only 2 hours and 10 minutes, the route is very challenging. From our place-Zilcas Binan laguna-San Jose Gma cavite-Gma Town Proper-Petron Gma-turning left to Gma zigzag-Carmona Cavite Zigzag-Checkpoint-turning left to Southwoods Hotel-Zilcas Binan-to our place again. We’re all wearing mt. makiling 6th edition. Along the way, we encountered several ascending route and plenty of descending areas. Nonetheless, we’re so happy along the way, conversing with each other, sharing each others’ thoughts and feelings.

Furthermore, this is also the time when I can use my timex heart rate monitor which was sidelined due to defective module and breast strap. Timex management decided to replace it. Here’s the data..total time 2 hrs,10 mins,43 secs. in zone 2.09, average hour 147, peak hour 176, minimum hour 71, total calories 1655, recovery 1 (109-108).

Today’s Verse

For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

The Lord’s Supper is a precious time for Christians. We remember the incredible sacrifice Jesus made to save us from our sins. We also realize that when Christians gather together and take the Supper, we are the Body of Christ, his physical presence on this earth (cf. 1 Cor. 10:17). Whatever happens to one of us matters to the rest of the Body. Every time we eat the Supper, let’s remember the other members of Christ’s Body around us. Let’s also give thanks for Jesus, who offered his body and blood at Calvary to save us. At the same time, let’s commit to be the presence of Christ in the world and do his work.

My Prayer…

Father, thank you for the first incarnation of Jesus when he became flesh and lived on earth. Thank you for his second incarnation through his Body, the Church. Please help me to value other members of his Body more. Please bless me with wisdom and courage as we (our congregation) seek to truly minister as his presence in our world. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

29 -- For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.
