21. Vegetarianism promotes easier weight control. Most people know that carrying excess weight is unhealthy, yet most diets fail. A vegetarian diet will help you lose pounds and maintain a normal body weight. The reason for this is that plants and grains are very low in fat and calories and it’s high in fiber which is more filling and thus reduces the temptation to overeat.

22. Vegetarianism lowers blood pressure. Dr. Rousse, an Australian researcher, decided to test 60 volunteers by switching them from a typical diet to one that was meat-free. He measured their blood pressure levels regularly. After a mere six weeks without meat, blood pressure had fallen significantly. The reason for the drop is that the vegan diets are high in polyunsaturated fat, whereas meat-based diets are high in saturated fat found in animals.

23. Vegan diets have better immune defense. Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables floods the body with compounds like vitamin c and beta carotene that boost immunity.

24. ” A vegan diet is a winning diet, for health, for sport, for life. It gives me maximum energy and vitality-in fact everything I need to keep me at the peak of physical fitness and compete with the best.” –Robert Millar, world class professional cyclist.

25. ” If a man’s aspirations toward right living are serious…he will first abstain from animal food because…its use is simply immoral, as it requires the performance of an act which is contrary to the moral feeling-killing, and is called forth only by greed and the desire for tasty food.” –Leo Tolstoy
