Things aren’t always what they seem!

Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion’s guest room. Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied,
“Things aren’t always what they seem”

The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night’s rest. When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field. The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel how could you have let this happen?

The first man had everything, yet you helped him, she accused. The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let the cow die.

“Things aren’t always what they seem,” the older angel replied.

“When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn’t find it.” “Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow instead.

“Things aren’t always what they seem.”

I’d like to share one somewhat related little tidbit I read somewhere before:

“It’s not that God doesn’t answer prayers, sometimes the answer is ‘no'”

😉

Hi Ronnie,

Indeed, we really have to trust in Him! He knows whats best for us every time, all the time.

Hi Annalenemb…Amen for that. We have no right to ask Him why? For everything we possess belong to Him.

Thanks a lot for dropping by…and see you at the races.

I just want to thank you Ronnie for your prayers when you last visited my blog. I wish to update you that I have completed my angiogram and although it was not what I prayedand want for. things have reasons as you said “things aren’t all what they seems” the proedure required implant of three (3) Stents in different parts of my coronary arteries. However, it could have been worst like a “open by-pass opertion” but as they say GOD IS GOOD! better yet, I should be out of the hospital tomorrow and slowly back to my love of Race Walking. Again, thank you for the prayers.

Hi reinier6666…you’re welcome and I’m happy to be of service to you. It’s nice to hear your story. In this life, there are many mysteries and the very hard to accept is…why do bad things happen to good people??? I hope we could get some answers from the above story.

God bless you brother.

You have such an inspiring story to tell and share. Reading this reminds me of a book my godmother me sometime back. It was entitled “Why Me, Lord” and was written by a priest. I hope you continue to share inspiring stories through this blog.

Thank you for the story. It is very true, things aren’t always what they seem. This story teaches us to be kind and generous to all our guests, at home, at work, everywhere. Many blessings come through people. We claim that we want to see God in our lives, but we forgot that HE is represented by the people(guests) we meet everyday. I believe so many times we have chased away God by not being good to our guests. We need to be like the farmers.

Also as christians, we should not complain the way things are happening in our life. Instead we should always be thankful to God. He knows what is best for us. The farmers might have complained not knowing what would have happened if the angels weren’t there. God help us!!

Again, thank you very much for such an inspiring story. Keep the good work and God bless you always.

Hi Fredrica…thank you very much for dropping by and sharing those Christ-centered thoughts of yours. It’s an mazing thing to know that God is in control of everything and all things work together for good. (Romans 8:28)
Keep your faith intact and genuine, for the the day of our redemption is near and sure.

God bless you always.

Someday, I know we’ll see the big picture. But for now, let us be content, thankful in everything, not grumbling but trusting in God’s sovereignty and our status as heirs/heiresses of the King of kings. Ha, ha, this is easily said than practiced coz it really takes a supernatural kind of love and joy that definitely can come from knowing Jesus Christ in a personal way. May He always be the star or highlight of this big picture, coz every believer in Christ’s life story is actually His story as we entrust our lives to Him and His lordship.
